"Happy" Response:
I really enjoyed this documentary. I liked how it talked about what happiness can mean for other people. I do not really think about happiness much. I do consider myself pretty much happy but I also think that I could be happier. one of the stories that really inspired me almost was the story of the women who got run over by the truck. She had spent her life being "happy" because that was the image that everyone had of her. She was a family women with a very happy-go-lucky personality. One day she was involved in a truck accident where her face was severely disfigured. She went through months of surgeries and rehabilitation but remains visually very different from the way she was before. For a long time she was very depressed and didn't know what to do. After awhile she realized that she was able to be happy if she just tried. She moved by the shore and began to get happier. I think that she ended up being happier than she was before because when her external identity was compromised, her true self was able to shine through. Also living through such a horrible accident can really change the was someone looks at the world. It makes them appreciate what they do have. I know that anytime I have gone through something or almost lost something or someone it makes me extremely grateful for my life and makes me think more positively, which ultimately makes me more happy.
